Horse meets Home

by Anna on August 24, 2012

I introduce to you: A concept board for the project of my newest client. A friend of mine just purchased a condo in Del Mar and I just had to get a start on bringing together some ideas. I’m loving the fact that she wants to incorporate some quirky horse paraphernalia into the living area- its really going to add some personality and fun! I’d like to mix some modern pieces with rustic equestrian pieces and tie it all together using sleek blue and rusty orange. I think we will definitely have a good time pulling off this look while also working within a budget. Here is my take on the MODERN EQUESTRIAN LOOK……

Design in a Box

by Anna on June 19, 2012

Recently a friend was telling me about an interesting concept called “design in a box.” This is where an Interior Designer would sell their services online as a packaged or “boxed” design concept. I’m not certain on the details but I would assume that there would be some back and forth communication between designer and customer which would direct the designer to create a room or “box” that the customer would fancy.

I thought it would be fun to try my hand at this type of design. Here is my “design in a box” which I have created for a laid back, nature loving, travel going, young couple. Enjoy!

Anthropologie Jacinto Pillow $118, West Elm Finn chandelier $199, Paint colors by Serena & Lily in Punch and Dune, Serena & Lily Senegalese storage baskets set of 3 $290, Groundwork feather print $20, Viesso Strata loveseat $2,039, West elm gradiated stripe rug $99, Classicon Bell table (call for pricing).

Old Old is the New New!

Eco friendly design/ environmentally conscious design is fortunately still growing in popularity. One trend that I hope will never phase out! Take a look at this furniture store on La Brea ave in LA called Cisco Brothers. They use organic materials and sell refurbished pieces. Very Anthropology-esque. Check out a few of my fav pieces in the showroom:

Fire it Up!

by Anna on November 24, 2011

Well, since my last post and claiming how I am still in denial about the changing seasons I gotta admit… Thanksgiving has definitely brought me the holiday cheer and excitement for these times of family, friends, and food!

The current project I’m working on has me thinking about outdoor furniture. “But its cold! Why outdoor furniture?” you ask. Because! Southern Califonia’s fall/winter weather is the perect time for snuggling up to your outdoor fire pit with friends, family, s’mores, and a bottle of wine!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Here are a few inspirational ideas for your outdoor seating and fire pit area:

Bright Ideas.

Lighting tricks: If you prefer a home with a neutral palette or monochromatic color scheme a great way to add life and character is to pick out unique lighting solutions. When picking out lighting fixtures think of them as art pieces. Color, shape, and size are all very important factors when incorporating unique lighting into your home.

If you have a round dining table using a circled or rounded hanging pendant will accentuate the curves.

If you have a very masculine feel and want to tone it down a tad try using an elegant glass and metal fixture to bring some shine and sparkle.

Eclectic style is all the rave right now and an easy trick to blending traditional with modern is to use large scale modern lighting fixtures. Try a large modern faceted wall sconce on a traditional paneled wall.

Here are a few of my latest favorites in the lighting world:
